Module 1Physical risks on site and handling techniques
Injury rates in construction and industry: lower back, shoulders, knees. Analysis of typical situations: long loads (pipes, boards, panels), bags and bulk bags, two-person handling, uneven ground. Adapted lifting techniques and effort-saving principles. Practice on real loads representative of participants' trades. Pre-shift warm-up: building a team routine.
Module 2Strenuous postures, technical aids and embedding practice
Extreme postures: overhead work, squatting, kneeling, twisting — alternatives and compensations. Vibration and power tools. Overview of technical aids: panel lifters, suction lifters, site trolleys, exoskeletons (demonstration and limits). Organising workstations and sites to reduce handling. Assessed scenarios plus individual and team action plans.
Evaluation method
- Entry and exit quiz to measure progress on prevention principles
- Continuous assessment during hands-on scenarios (load carrying, working postures)
- Final scenario: applying safe handling and posture techniques to the participant's own work situation
Learning method
- Structured theory: spine anatomy, biomechanics and how musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) develop
- Hands-on practice on reconstructed work situations (loads, typical workstations from participants' daily work)
- Analysis of real situations brought by participants and an individual action plan
Methods, materials and delivery
