Module 1Fundamentals and First Steps with AWS Step Functions
Presentation of key orchestration and serverless concepts on AWS. Discovery of Step Functions: use cases, terminology (state, transition, State Machine). Setting up the environment (AWS CLI, Console, CloudFormation). Creating your first simple workflow with Lambda. Practical exercises on JSON modeling of a State Machine.
Module 2Advanced Orchestration, Integrations, and Error Handling
Advanced structures: choice (Choice), parallelism, loops, and data management (InputPath, OutputPath, ResultPath). Integration scenarios with S3, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, and API Gateway. Timeout management, retries, error policies, and failure compensation. Workshop to create a multi-step workflow with error recovery.
Module 3Security, Monitoring, and Production Deployment
Authentication strategies (IAM), permissions, and least privilege principles for Step Functions. Monitoring, logs, and alarms with CloudWatch. Debugging tools, versioning, and audit. Cost optimization, design and maintenance best practices. CI/CD deployment of a State Machine across different environments. Implementation of a final complete workflow project integrating multiple AWS services and going live in production.
