Why this program matters

  • Without mastering MQTT, M2M communications in your IoT projects fail systematically, generating critical data losses and unexpected interruptions.

  • 70 % of IoT incidents stem from faulty implementations of this protocol, with an average cost of 45 000 € per hour of downtime for an automated factory.

  • Each month without MQTT expertise, your company loses 20 % of productivity and exposes itself to cyberattacks, compromising its market position.

  • Unqualified IT engineers stagnate in their careers, while competitors capture IoT contracts worth 500 milliards d'euros by 2025.

MQTT training objectives

  • Understand the general functioning of the MQTT protocol and its key uses in IoT
  • Install and configure an MQTT broker (Mosquitto, EMQX, etc.)
  • Develop MQTT client programs in different languages
  • Configure security and authentication on an MQTT broker
  • Optimize performance and quality of service (QoS) of the protocol
  • Set up an MQTT supervision and troubleshooting system

Program

MQTT curriculum: 3 modules over 3 days

Module 1 : Introduction, Concepts, and Getting Started

Overview of IoT protocols, focus on MQTT; Publish/Subscribe architecture; MQTT message lifecycle; terminology (broker, client, topics); use cases (home automation, industrial sensors). Step-by-step installation of an MQTT broker on various environments (VM, cloud), first publish/subscribe tests via command-line tools (mosquitto_pub/sub), exploration of network analysis tools.

Module 2 : MQTT Client Programming and Integration

Use of main client libraries (Paho Python, Eclipse Java, etc.); development of publish/subscribe applications, connection lifecycle management, wildcard topics exploitation, payload handling. Practical exercises on MQTT integration in real IoT scenarios.

Module 3 : Security, QoS, Monitoring, and Optimization

Secure an MQTT broker (TLS, authentication, ACL), Quality of Service control (QoS 0/1/2), persistence management and will messages. Setting up supervision, monitoring, and troubleshooting: logs, metrics, debugging tools, best practices for robust deployments.

How MQTT skills are assessed

  • Intermediate MCQs at the end of each day
  • Implementation of a red thread project: mini-MQTT infrastructure with clients and supervision
  • Individual feedback on practical exercises

How the MQTT course is taught

  • Alternation between theory, live demonstrations, and numerous practical exercises
  • Study of real-world case studies from industry and home automation
  • Access to a remote laboratory for real-time hands-on practice
  • Digital course materials provided

MQTT training: access and practical arrangements

The Training: Mastering MQTT: The M2M Protocol for the Internet of Things program is delivered onsite or remote (blended-learning, virtual classroom, remote presence). At Learni, an industry-certified training organization, every program is built to maximize skills acquisition regardless of the chosen format.

The trainer alternates between demonstrative, interrogative and active methods (through hands-on labs and/or scenarios). This pedagogical approach guarantees concrete learning that's immediately applicable at work.

Equipment required

For the smooth delivery of the Training: Mastering MQTT: The M2M Protocol for the Internet of Things program, the following equipment is required:

  • Mac or PC computers, high-speed fiber internet, whiteboard or flipchart, projector or interactive touch screen (for remote sessions)
  • Training environments installed on workstations or accessible online
  • Course materials, hands-on exercises and complementary resources
  • Post-training access to materials and educational resources

For intra-company training on a site outside Learni, the client commits to providing all required teaching materials (computers, internet, etc.) for the smooth delivery of the program in line with the prerequisites in the communicated program.

Our method

How Learni guarantees the quality of your MQTT training

Before, during, after: we frame the brief, introduce the trainer, tailor the content and measure impact. You stay in control from kickoff to wrap-up.

Step 1

Rigorous trainer selection

Each trainer is validated on three criteria: hands-on field expertise, proven pedagogy and alignment with your industry.

  • Triple validation: technical, pedagogical, sectoral.
  • Minimum rating 4.8/5 over the last 12 sessions.
Step 2

You meet the trainer beforehand

30-minute video call between you and the selected trainer to validate the fit, adjust content and clear any final doubts.

  • Live briefing on goals and team context.
  • Veto right — we swap the trainer for free if needed.
Step 3

Content tailored to your context

No recycled slides. The syllabus is reworked from your real cases: tools, constraints, vocabulary, ongoing projects.

  • Hands-on cases drawn from your stack and projects.
  • Program co-written then validated by your team.
Step 4

Continuous quality follow-up

Live evaluations, 30/90/180-day check-ins and a consolidation plan. If the impact misses the mark, we rework it.

  • NPS, knowledge quizzes and skills self-assessment.
  • Satisfaction guarantee: fully satisfied or free rework.

A simple promise: you don't pay to discover the trainer on day one. Everything is validated upfront, by you.
