Module 2Initial Configuration & Routing Policies
Setting up a simple BGP session (iBGP & eBGP); Basic configuration (Cisco, Juniper); Route import and export; Route filtering – Prefix-lists, Route-maps; Use of BGP attributes to manipulate routing; Introduction to multi-homing redundancy; Session security (TTL, MD5, prefix filtering, route dampening).
Module 3Advanced BGP & Troubleshooting
Deployment of complex architectures (route reflectors, confederations); BGP communities and advanced routing policies; Path manipulation (AS_PATH prepending, MED tuning, Local Preference); Convergence management and performance impact; Troubleshooting with Wireshark and diagnostic tools; Real-world case studies of BGP incidents (route hijack, leaks, filter failures); Best practices and documentation.
