Definition and roles of OS. Overview of the main OS on the market: Windows, Linux, macOS. General architecture: kernel, user interface, drivers. Installation process - comparative study. Practical exercises: Setting up virtual machines on VirtualBox/VMware, guided installation of each OS.
User account and group management under Windows (MMC Console, PowerShell), Linux (user commands, /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow files) and macOS. Concepts of rights, ACL, access controls. Practical exercises: User creation, secure management, concrete cases of rights (read/write/execute/shared directories). Implementation of basic security policies.
Process management (Task Manager, ps, top, Activity Monitor), priorities. Diagnostic and monitoring tools (Windows Event Viewer, Linux/macOS logging). File systems: FAT, NTFS, ext4, APFS. Partitioning, disk management, mounting, formatting under each OS. Exercises: Partition manipulation, file recovery, monitoring scripts.
Discovery of graphical interfaces and command lines. Session management, customization, login scripts. Automation via scripts: Bash for Linux/macOS, PowerShell for Windows. Task scheduling (Task Scheduler, cron). Exercises: Writing simple scripts for automatic maintenance, cross-OS demonstrations.
Backup and restoration principles. Native tools (Windows Backup, Time Machine, rsync, tar). Incident recovery scenarios (system restoration, deleted file recovery, safe mode/recovery). Backup plan. Exercises: Implementation of various backup/restore scenarios on each OS. Troubleshooting methods.
