Don't let this gap widen

Why this program matters

  • Without this upskilling, your team accumulates a technological gap that translates directly into productivity loss.

  • Organizations that don't train their talents on key topics see their competitiveness drop.

  • Every quarter without training is a gap widening with competitors who invest.

  • The cost of inaction quickly exceeds that of well-targeted training.

Learning objectives

  • Build a complete chain of trust from bootloader to application in a professional IoT context
  • Sign the kernel and filesystem then verify integrity at every boot stage
  • Understand the irreversibility of fuse locking and its impact on production cycles
  • Organize key management including generation, storage, revocation and factory deployment
  • Enable an authorized maintenance mode without introducing backdoors
  • Reproduce full images from source and deploy them with updates including power-loss scenarios

Program

Module 1Building Secure Images (Buildroot, Yocto, signing scripts)

Participants build complete images from source using cross-compilation tools. They integrate bootloader and kernel signing, test boot-time verification and document every command-line step to ensure reproducibility.

Module 2Chain of Trust and Verification (U-Boot, dm-verity, initramfs)

Implement a chain of trust from bootloader to application. Exercises cover signed partitioning, dm-verity activation and hash validation at each stage. Real-world tampering detection and boot-log analysis.

Module 3Key Management and Revocation (OpenSSL, HSM, embedded PKI)

Full key lifecycle management: generation, secure storage, rotation and revocation. Hands-on work with simulated HSMs, certificate creation and a minimal PKI for production and OTA updates.

Module 4Fuse Locking and Production (eFuses, OTP, factory scripts)

Analyze fuses and OTP locks on real targets. Irreversible locking procedures, consequence testing and factory programming script preparation. Lessons learned from permanent errors and industrial impact.

Module 5Authorized Maintenance and Updates (OTA, rollback, recovery mode)

Design a secure maintenance mode for updates and diagnostics without breaking the chain of trust. Rollback exercises, signed version management and power-loss simulations during deployment.

Evaluation method

  • Daily quizzes validating chain-of-trust concepts
  • Graded practical exercises on build reproducibility and signing
  • Final project covering full configuration, locking and maintenance mode

Learning method

  • Instructor-led workshops on real hardware targets
  • Paired lab work with group debriefs
  • Technical documentation produced by participants
  • Personalized feedback from the trainer on configuration choices

The Learni story

Founded by engineers and learning experts, Learni's mission is to make high-impact tech training accessible to teams everywhere. We work remotely with organizations across the US and Canada, in your time zone, to help teams upskill fast.

Our method

Training quality, guaranteed at every step

Before, during, after: we frame the brief, introduce the trainer, tailor the content and measure impact. You stay in control from kickoff to wrap-up.

Step 1

Rigorous trainer selection

Each trainer is validated on three criteria: hands-on field expertise, proven pedagogy and alignment with your industry.

  • Triple validation: technical, pedagogical, sectoral.
  • Minimum rating 4.8/5 over the last 12 sessions.
Step 2

You meet the trainer beforehand

30-minute video call between you and the selected trainer to validate the fit, adjust content and clear any final doubts.

  • Live briefing on goals and team context.
  • Veto right — we swap the trainer for free if needed.
Step 3

Content tailored to your context

No recycled slides. The syllabus is reworked from your real cases: tools, constraints, vocabulary, ongoing projects.

  • Hands-on cases drawn from your stack and projects.
  • Program co-written then validated by your team.
Step 4

Continuous quality follow-up

Live evaluations, 30/90/180-day check-ins and a consolidation plan. If the impact misses the mark, we rework it.

  • NPS, knowledge quizzes and skills self-assessment.
  • Satisfaction guarantee: fully satisfied or free rework.

A simple promise: you don't pay to discover the trainer on day one. Everything is validated upfront, by you.
