Participants discover the limitations of vector retrievers alone, then compare a dense retriever with a cross-encoder reranker on the MS MARCO dataset. They run MRR and nDCG@10 measurements, identify relevant score thresholds, and build their first simple pipeline with LangChain.
Module 2Advanced Reranking: Multi-Model Integration and Latency Optimization (LlamaIndex, Voyage)
Building on the pipelines from day 1, learners successively integrate Cohere Rerank and BGE-M3, test batching and caching to reduce latency, measure improvements on a real business corpus, and produce a comparative table of costs and precision gains.
