Module 1ROCm and HIP Discovery: Installation and First Ports (ROCm 5.x, hipify-perl, AMD Tools)
Participants discover the ROCm architecture and HIP API, install drivers and libraries on Instinct servers, then use hipify to automatically convert simple CUDA kernels. Guided practical work on concrete vector reduction cases delivers functional deliverables and initial performance benchmarks.
Module 2Advanced Porting and Optimization: Complex Kernels, Memory and Profiling (rocprof, rocm-smi)
The day covers porting complex kernels including unified memory management and atomic operations. Learners apply optimization techniques, analyze traces with rocprof and resolve bottlenecks. AI datacenter use cases result in optimized and measured deliverables.
Module 3Production Deployment and Validation: ROCm Integration, Testing and Scaling (Docker, Slurm)
Teams integrate ported applications into ROCm containers, deploy them on clusters via Slurm and perform load testing. Monitoring with rocm-smi and scalability validation deliver production-ready deliverables and complete performance reports.
