Module 1Native Calls and Type Management
Calling Windows DLLs from WLangage: declaration, calling conventions, passing by value and by address. Type mapping, ANSI and Unicode strings, structures, memory buffers. System error handling and resource release. Encodings and conversion pitfalls. Workshop: integrate a native document-processing library and make it reliable.
Module 2.NET and Java from WinDev
Consuming .NET assemblies: import, objects, methods, events, framework versions. Java libraries: bridge, classes, exceptions, embedded runtime environment. Lifecycle of external objects and explicit release. Transitive dependencies and redistribution. Workshop: call a .NET business-calculation library and a Java signature library, then encapsulate them behind a clean WLangage interface.
Module 3COM Automation and Application Control
OLE and COM automation: instantiation, properties, methods, collections. Controlling an office suite, an email client, or a third-party business application. Modern alternatives to COM automation and cases where it remains essential. Robustness: third-party application missing, different version, locked session. Workshop: generate a complete mail merge controlled from WinDev, with graceful degradation if the tool is absent.
Module 4Exposing WinDev and Governing Dependencies
Exposing WinDev processes: WinDev DLL, web service, command line, file exchange. Choosing the exposure mode according to the caller. Systematic encapsulation of external dependencies behind a replaceable internal interface. Dependency inventory, supported versions, exit plan for an abandoned library. Capstone case: deliver a complete encapsulated, tested, and documented integration with its replacement procedure.
Evaluation method
- Self-assessment at the start of the session, followed by validation quizzes at the end of each day
- Continuous evaluation on an individual WinDev project, one workstation and one dataset per participant
- Capstone case study presented at the end of the course to the trainer and the group
Learning method
- One workstation equipped with the PC SOFT environment and a training project per participant, retained after the session
- Short cycles alternating between commented demonstrations in the editor and immediate hands-on practice
- Use cases built from real-world business applications encountered in enterprise environments
Methods, materials and delivery
The Training WinDev: Interoperability with .NET, Java, DLL and COM program is delivered onsite or remote (blended-learning, virtual classroom, remote presence).
