Module 1Introduction to Automated Tests and Getting Started with Mocha
1. Why test? Presentation of key concepts: unit test, integration test, functional test. 2. Installation and configuration of Mocha (local environment and Node.js/front-end project). 3. Structure of a test with Mocha: describe(), it(), before(), after(). 4. Getting started with first assertions using Chai. 5. Practical exercises on setting up a test environment and first tests on simple functions.
Module 2Deep Dive and Structuring Test Suites
1. Writing and organizing complex test suites (files, nested describe, advanced hooks). 2. Using Chai: assert, expect, should, exception handling. 3. Handling asynchronous tests: promises, callbacks, async/await. 4. Mocking and stubbing practice with Sinon.js. 5. Practical exercises: REST API testing, dependency isolation, time manipulation, exception verification.
Module 3Industrialization, Continuous Integration, and Test Optimization
1. Generating test reports and code coverage with Istanbul (nyc) and Mocha. 2. Setting up a scalable test strategy, TDD/BDD concepts. 3. Integrating tests into CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions, Gitlab CI, Jenkins). 4. Best practices for maintaining a tested and maintainable codebase: refactoring, test maintenance, handling false positives/negatives. 5. Practical cases on Node.js or front-end (React/Vue) application project, correction of the red thread project followed throughout the training.
