Module 1Basics of Spritesheets and Introduction to Sprite Animation

Presentation of the concept and history of Spritesheets. Understanding the principles of frames and animation cycles. Types of Spritesheets (single-row, grid, atlas, etc.), suitable image formats. Case studies on their use in video games and interactive web interfaces. Demonstration of simple animations using existing Spritesheets.

Module 2Creation and Optimization of Spritesheets

Use of dedicated software (TexturePacker, Glue, Piskel, Photoshop). Manual or automated assembly of images into an optimized Spritesheet. Optimization of size, transparency, padding, and collisions. Evaluation of resolution constraints and browser/platform compatibility. Definition of metadata (JSON, XML) for automatic frame parsing.

Module 3Integration and Dynamic Animation in a Project

Importing a Spritesheet into various environments: HTML5 Canvas, CSS Sprites, JavaScript frameworks (PixiJS, Phaser, etc.). Coding animations for characters or objects from the Spritesheet (tick management, state changes, user interactions). Advanced techniques: looped animations, audio/visual synchronization, multi-Spritesheet management. Performance testing and advice for maintenance and scalability.
