Concepts of proxy, mapping, input and output parameter management. Demonstration of integration with Lambda for a serverless backend endpoint. Practical exercises to expose a microservice via API Gateway.
Module 2API Security, Validation, and Interconnection
Implementation of IAM strategies to control API access. Use of Lambda authorizers and authentication with Amazon Cognito/JWT/OAuth2. Management of quotas, throttling, and DoS protection. Modeling, validation, and transformation of payload schemas (mapping templates, JSON Schema validation). Integrations with DynamoDB, S3, and other AWS services. Practice: secure configuration of a multi-endpoint API and payload validation.
Module 3Advanced Deployment, Versioning, and Monitoring
Management of deployment environments (dev, test, prod), stages, and API versioning. Implementation of logging, monitoring (CloudWatch), and call traceability. Automation of API deployments via AWS CLI, SAM, or CloudFormation. Strategies for managing the API lifecycle in the cloud. Practical work: automated deployment script, monitoring and debugging, error handling, and performance monitoring.
