Introduction to Infrastructure as Code, challenges and benefits. Presentation of Terraform, comparison with other IaC tools. First Terraform installation, discovery of HCL syntax. Creating a project and managing providers: connection to AWS, Azure or GCP. Writing first main.tf files, executing init, plan, apply commands. Managing local state and introduction to remote state.
Module 2 : Advanced Resource Management and Best Practices
Code organization: workspaces, modules, variables and outputs. Structuring complex projects: code factorization with public/private modules, environment variables. Resource lifecycle management: create-before-destroy, dependencies, importing existing resources. Security: credential management, state encryption, access control with Terraform Cloud and Remote Backends. Collaboration: code versioning, Git best practices, managing multiple environments. Introduction to testing with terraform validate, tflint.
Module 3 : Automation and Industrialization with Terraform
Applying Terraform to real-world cases: deploying complete cloud architectures (networks, instances, databases, load balancers). Using modules from the Terraform Registry. Setting up CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments with Terraform and integration into DevOps tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins). Migration strategies, managing updates, resolving state conflicts. Monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance. Feedback, limitations, and future evolutions of Terraform and IaC.
