Module 1Introduction to open source home automation & OpenHAB installation
Overview of home automation and open source solutions; presentation of the OpenHAB project, concepts and architecture. Download, installation on Raspberry Pi/PC/VM, discovery of the console and PaperUI/MainUI interface. Network configuration, port management, secure remote access.
Module 2Discovering features – things, links, interface, equipment integration
Adding equipment via official Bindings: Z-Wave, Zigbee, MQTT, KNX, TCP/UDP, etc. Discovery and creation of Things, Items, Channels. Setting up Sitemaps and creating panels with HABPanel/MainUI. User management and access rights. Practice: Integrate a sensor, a smart plug, a smart bulb.
Module 3Automate, secure and optimize OpenHAB for daily use
Writing simple and advanced automation rules (DSL, Blockly), creating ambiance scenarios, time-based programming, notifications, external scripts. Backups, restoration, logging, maintenance and updates. Tips for optimization, monitoring and security of the home automation installation. Case studies, discussions on participants' personal projects.
