Presentation of Kubernetes and its history; Principles of container orchestration. Description of the architecture: nodes, pods, master/slave schema, etc. Understanding the main objects: pods, services, ReplicaSets, Deployments. Installation of a local Kubernetes cluster (Minikube, K3s, or KIND). Getting started with kubectl, exploring the cluster, first simple deployments. Practical exercises: deployment and management of pods, analysis of their status and logs.
Creation and management of Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets. Exposing applications: ClusterIP, NodePort, LoadBalancer services and Ingress. Automatic scaling (Horizontal Pod Autoscaler). Configuration and secrets management: ConfigMaps, Secrets and volume mounts. Introduction to data persistence (PersistentVolumes and PersistentVolumeClaims). Practical exercises: setting up a microservice, scaling, rolling updates, rollbacks and version management.
Monitoring and logging with Prometheus, Grafana, and integration of third-party solutions. Securing the cluster: RBAC, Network Policies, identity and access management. Debugging and troubleshooting: tools and methodologies applied to simulated failures. Resource optimization and quota management, advanced pod scheduling. In-depth topics: CI/CD strategies with Helm, multicluster management, best practices for production deployment. Synthesis workshop: Industrialize a complete deployment, secure, monitor and scale a real application on Kubernetes.
